The Aland archipelago

Travel by ship between two Scandinavian capitals, and spend a few relaxing days in the Aland archipelago. Explore the town of Mariehamn with its 19th-century Russian architecture, discover the smaller islands connected with bridges or by the boat, relax on the beautiful beaches and enjoy the Aland pancakes.

Day 1: Arrival & Stockholm
Arrival at Stockholm airport and transfer to your downtown hotel.
Discover the charm of one of the most beautiful medieval town centers in Europe – the Gamla Stan. See the Royal Palace, enjoy a candy cane and check out the narrowest alley of the city. You can spend more time exploring the area on your own maybe with a nice cup of coffee.
Stockholm is big on the food scene so be sure to explore some of the interesting places recommended by us. Or we could recommend a food tour you can join in on.
Overnight in Stockholm City.

Day 2: Archipelago & Mariehamn
In the morning you board the ship that will take you on a six-hour cruise through the beautiful archipelago.
Arrival to the Aland islands and its main town Mariehamn. Explore the charming town, take a walk through the wooden houses and the Maritime Quarter and visit Pommern. It is also possible to visit the Aland Museum and the Maritime Museum.

Day 3: Aland Countryside Drive
Pick up your rental car for the day and drive past the countryside with windmills and apple orchards. Stop at Kastelholm, a well-preserved castle, where you can also visit the Jan Karlsgarden Open Air Museum, before continuing to the beautiful ruins of Bomarsund. Drive on to Saltvik and explore the northern islands, believed to be the prettiest in the archipelago.
Overnight in Mariehamn.

Day 4: Aland Bicycling & Overnight Cruise
Today you can rent bikes and follow a 25km return trail to the southern islands of Nato, Grano, and Jarso. The trail is pretty with the sea on both sides, wooden houses and boats, and views of the islands.
